The Groove in the Mist
for Steel Drum Band

The Groove in the Mist began with a subdued rhythmic pattern of 2nds. The sound world that the pattern of seconds created led to the main melody. The guitar accompaniment is an osculation of 5ths and 6ths set to motion with a 16th note–8th note–16th note   8th rest-8th note pattern. The bass line walks diatonically down under the main melody. During the 4th section of the piece, the guitar, cellos and bass get to play the melody while the lead and double 2nds provide the accompaniment.
