Rhythmic Pursuit
for five percussionists

   
         Rhythmic Pursuit was written for the Long Beach City College percussion ensemble.  Most of the piece was composed in two hours and the ending of the piece was completed in a week.  The piece uses five percussionists playing a variety of unpitched percussion instruments.  With pitch no longer an issue, the piece is free to explore the variety of rhythmic patterns, which are driving and forward moving.

This piece was premiered by the LBCC Percussion Ensemble on July 31, 1995 at the Long Beach City College Quad in Long Beach, CA.

This piece was also performed by the CSULB Percussion Ensemble and was conducted by Michael Carney on November 26, 1996 at the Daniel Recital Hall in Long Beach, CA.
