Rhythmic Pursuit was written for the Long Beach City College percussion ensemble. Most of the piece was composed in two hours and the ending of the piece was completed in a week. The piece uses five percussionists playing a variety of unpitched percussion instruments. With pitch no longer an issue, the piece is free to explore the variety of rhythmic patterns, which are driving and forward moving.
