Rhythm Chant incorporates unpitched percussion instruments to not just be used to keep a beat. Instead, they are used to create musical phrases while providing a constant drive throughout the piece. Each section of the piece is delineated by what instruments are being played and how they are used in each section by either becoming the melody or the accompaniment.
