The original conception of The Mystic Traveler was to write a piece that begins with a driving and rhythmic pulse, which lasts throughout the piece. The piece is comprised of two themes. The first theme is not just a single melody but also the combination of four voice chords that are utilized, manipulated and set in a canon. The second theme is a six beat eighth note pattern with accents on every third eighth. Parts and pieces of the two themes are employed throughout the piece. The second theme was originally used for a cue in a film has yet to released.
