At Peace is the incorporation of combining different melodic ostinato patterns. The ostinato is created by setting a verse from the poem and repeating it. The verses are short ranging from one to six words. Then those short ostinatos are set against three other ostinatos. The slow overlapping ostinatos create a circular, almost meditative sound world, which take the listener to sense of peace. At Peace was written and performed by the choir at the Oregon Bach Festival.

Peace. This moment I am the universe. The seas of wind engulf me. Nature is myself within my infinite space, at peace. I am the land cradled in the air and kneaded with the sea. In peace. Adam C. Sharp |
